Room for boys at AMVJ Martinus!

At AMVJ Martinus, we now have a boys' team at every youth level. But there is certainly still room for more boys!

Like other volleyball clubs, AMVJ Martinus sees that volleyball is more popular among girls than among boys. One of the reasons given by the Nevobo is that children are joining sports clubs at increasingly younger ages, but that volleyball is quite a difficult sport for young kids. They often only master smashing hard - something boys particularly enjoy - at a later age. Sports like soccer seem in first instance easier.

That is one of the reasons why boys are still allowed to play with and against girls in the Minis (up to 12 years old) and C-youth (up to 14 years old). After that, the physical difference becomes too big.

A, B and C
At AMVJ Martinus, we are fortunate to have enough boys in the C, B, and A youth categories to have all-boy teams. That is nice, because it provides a slightly different dynamic and allows for trainings tailored more to boys.

However, we certainly still have room for more boys who enjoy playing volleyball in a team with only boys. We also have quite a few boys playing in the minis. They train every week and have a regional tournament once a month.

So boys, don't hesitate and sign up! You can take about three trial lessons to see if you enjoy it.
